Pilates is a form of exercise designed to elongate, strengthen and restore the body to optimum muscular and skeletal function. It promotes a strong core, improves the health, flexibility and mobility of the joints through improved mobility and support from surrounding musculature. It increases muscle tone and encourages a more balanced posture. It can benefit a wide range of people of all ages, levels and abilities.
As a progression of treatment for many conditions, especially the neck and back, we introduce Pilates based exercises to facilitate injury prevention and therefore promote physical rehabilitation. Once achieved we will often recommend Pilates classes for self management.
We are working with Gill Glass and Adrian Bell both Level Three Pilates Instructors. Their method of teaching focuses on the individual’s needs and works at a manageable level both in a class or in ‘one to one’ sessions. Adrian also uses Pilates Reformers in both individual and class format.
